AfroBabyNames — the website and the mobile app — is a reference for African names, their meanings, spellings, and pronunciations, operated by Serene Circle LLC (trading as Mansa Labs). It is offered as a cultural and educational resource: we verify names carefully, but meanings and traditions vary across families and regions, and we can’t guarantee every entry is complete or correct for your community. The final word on a name always belongs to your family and your elders.
Premium
The app’s free tier includes a daily number of swipes. Premium — as a monthly subscription or a one-time lifetime unlock — removes that limit. Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple’s App Store or Google Play under their terms; subscriptions renew until cancelled in your store account settings, and refunds follow the store’s policy. A purchased Premium may also unlock the app for one partner you match with — that’s a feature, not a resale licence.
Fair use of the collection
You’re welcome to browse, share names with friends and family, and link to any page. The curated collection itself — the structured database of names, meanings, and spellings — took real work to build and verify; copying it wholesale, scraping it, or republishing it as a competing dataset isn’t allowed without our written permission.
No warranties, limited liability
The service is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we accept no liability for decisions made on the basis of the information here, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the past twelve months.
